Accept or Discard Suggestions

Abstract

How to accept and discard suggestions.

To handle suggestions, you must enter the Suggest View. This feature is not available in the main Editor. The number of suggestions for each topic is shown in the:

  • table of contents icon. It is four blue horizontal lines on a white background. The lines are all the same length. Table of Contents where topics with suggestions are marked with a blue circle. The number next to the circle is the total number of suggestions.

  • Suggestion skip feature. It has a back button, a forward button and two numbers separated by a forward slash. The number to the left is the current suggestion and the number to the right is the total number of suggestions.Skip feature in the Contributor Editor Toolbar where the left number represents the current suggestion and the right number is the total number of suggestions.

You can accept or discard suggestions individually (inside the topic) or all at once from the Contributor Editor Toolbar. Accepting a suggestion updates the content with the approved change. Discarding a suggestion rejects the suggestion without changing the content. To be able to do this, you need permission to edit the content and your user type must be Author, Admin or Contributor.

Suggestions icon is selected in the toolbar, revealing a dropdown menu. The menu has options for accepting or discarding selected suggestions or all suggestions.
A suggestion comment. It shows the action taken by a contributor who made a suggestion. In this case, they replaced the word images with the word media. There is a check mark and a cross to accept or reject the suggestion.

Accept or discard all suggestions from the Contributor Editor Toolbar or individually inside the topic.

You can select different ways to visualize the suggestions, see Switch Suggestion Mode.

To accept or discard suggestions individually:

  1. Display the Suggest View. Suggest mode icon. It is a lightbulb.

  2. The suggestions appear alongside the original content, highlighted with color.

    • Added content is shown with a green highlight and appears alongside the original content.

    • Removed content remains in the content, but is shown with a red background and a strikethrough

  3. Select a suggestion to display a suggestion dialog.

    You have the option to select:

    • A green checkmark icon. The Check mark to accept the suggestion. Paligo will update the content with the suggested change.

    • A red cross icon. The Cross mark to discard the suggestion. Paligo will keep the original text and rejects the suggestion.

    • Send a reply or question to the contributor.

    Tip

    If a suggestion also has numbers with arrow buttons, it means that there is more than one dialog available. The selected suggestion is just one of those dialogs. If you select the arrow buttons, you can switch to another dialog.

    For example, if you have a suggestion in a table, there will be at least two dialogs available: one for the suggestion and one for editing the table.

  4. Use the arrow buttons in the Skip feature to move to the previous or next suggestion.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to accept or reject further suggestions.

  6. Select Save.
